New Car?

Wondering about a new car, or new to me, mine was hit by a neighbour who is 88 years old and sadly he could not control his vehicle, still friends, but mine is still waiting parts to be done, but really thinking about changing it when I do get it back, its been 8 weeks now, driving a rental which is all paid for by the third parties insurance as they accepted liability.

We see if I feel the same when I get mine back, would love an electric but they are so expensive to buy.

And the set up, unless chgarging at home, is still not great.

What do you drive, what type, let me know looking for some ideas.

Lakes

Good day from the daily grind blog, peters blog, thats me.  We seem to spend our time now shopping, collecting medicines from the chemist, and sitting down, there use to be a TV program called "waiting for God"  think thats what we are doing.

Long wait though I hope, dont really want to see him yet, as I said the other day we need a holiday, somewhere to just rest, dont mind a bit of cooking but just a change of scenery would help.

We both love the lake district, so beautiful there, last time we went to windermere and stayed in a B&B lovely, went for walks and breathed the fresh air, a little older now of course but sill worth a visit I think, perhaps a hotel to stay in.

We walked near coniston waters, and I stood to allow Joanne to take a picture, she started to laugh, and when I looked around silently creeping up on me was this wonderful swan coming to say hello, it stayed to say hello for a while then swam off, wonder if that same one is still around, guess not.

We drove up to the lakes, best way I think, as we drove up for the first time, the landscape suddenly started to change, dry stone walls appeared, miles upon miles of them, the grass turned a lot greener, and some of the roads got narrow, but what a scene never forget.

Need a holiday

The daily grind here again, today has been not too bad, my partner joanne had a blood test, and then we did some shopping, what a wonderful life we lead, we need a holiday badly.

Holidays have been off the table for a few years, and we may not get abroad this year, holidays in Britain or staycation as its being called, must admit there are many areas of britain I would love to visit, maybe a bucket list is in order.

One place I would love to go to is Scotland, for its landcape and historic areas its always been in my mind, if abroad Germany or Austria, if what I have heard and seen of these two contries this again I would love to visit.

Maybe one day.

The Times

Sunday once was the day of rest, shops were shut all day, people had sunday roasts without fail, the local butchers were very busy, the good old days, guess these will be the good old days for our children.

No Computers, No multi channels on the tv, no mobile phones this was down the road in a red box.

I had a new mobile a few years ago and I was finding it hard to set up, got my 13 year old grandaughter to help me, I remember her saying "I cannot believe I am helping my grandad to use his mobile", and I replied "we didnt have these when I was your age"  the look was classic, guess todays kids think all the modern cons, have been around since Jesus was a boy.

I am watching dancing on ice, great show or at least I thought it was, why are these types of shows having people on that do not know what they are, all these binaries, males dressing up, and goodness knows what else they want to call themselves, I feel it degrades the show.  Sorry thats my feelings, old school feelings, just do not get it.

Mistakes

Saturday, was once a great day as it is for many, now retired its just another day, sad but true.

Wishing life would start again sometimes, but to take all the gadgets and money back with me, does anyone else feel this way, wishing you had a reverse button, wouldnt that be fantastic.

I have made mistakes along the way, many of us I guess, I have made three big ones, the first getting married for the second time, yes the second, that was certainly a big mistake and I am not being against women, but the lady was to turn out to be a wrong one.  The second was to get involved with a con man in Snodland, I was a passionate photographer still am really, but pound signs and the chance to what I thought would change my life for the good, turned out to be the complete opposite, he is now dead and I wish him all the heat they can give him, the third was to get involved with a worker, the money ha cost me when I sat down and went through all my books was bad, my fault for being unselfish, thinking of him when doing the work to keep him in socks and trousers, but really spent money, still as said retired now, so he will have to find his own work, I have noticed a company he started is no longer around.

I am not bitter as I  am now ok and with my soul mate Joanne.

Let have some feed back from you all would love to hear if you would like a reverse button

Cracked up to Be

More waiting for the car to be done, why is it taking so long, have any of you been waiting several weeks for cars to be repaired.

Lovely day outside here in Medway, might go a for a walk in a minute, try and blow some cobwebs away, very silent here as well, hows it where you are, what sort of day are you having so far.

Long pause..................

Been for the walk, only 20 mins lovely.

Its been a funny year so far, bit like last one, never really knowoing what to do, too much time on my hands now I am retired, if you are retired I would love to hear from you.

Here at the daily grind I have aften wondered what retirement would be like, working all those years wishing for some time to do things, going where I want to go, but, now its here its not all that its cracked up to be, I would go as far to say I am not liking it one bit.

Still active just, wishing something would happen, trying to make things happen, some professions like acting would be lovely, as you never really retire going well into the 80s and still going, but as I am not an actor although my wife shes I do a good impression of a pain in the neck.

Still something will happen at some point.

More from the daily grind,

Hello from the daily grind, here in medway its been a bad day weather wise, rain most of the morning, damp and dark in the afternoon, its January after all.

One of my favourite tv programs is Silent Witness, and this series is proving again to be a great one,  new characters and storylines, great, Emilia Fox is just as brilliant as always.

Whats your Favourite?

Another one for me is Line of Duty, hard to choose between them for me.

Daily rant now, easter eggs are in the shops, why do they do this, like christmas starting in September and east in January, kids today have now surprises do they, I use to be so excited waiting for the holidays to arrive, Hot Cross buns in the shops at easter, Easter eggs as well, and Christmas started December in the shops, lovely days and lovely times.

Its also such a shame that some of our old shops have sadly packed up and gone, the high street is not the same as it once was, we all have memories of special shops, sweet shops, clothes shops, shops like Woolworths, such a shame they are gone, they do say the circle of life so you never know the shops we all loved may come back, maybe in a different way.

Monday the 9th Farewell

Monday the 9th January from the daily grind.

Bit of a boring day, but do you know where the name boring came from, well according to google its this

This bore is a Germanic word meaning “to pierce” and is found in Old English. But sometime in the mid-1700s, bore came to refer to a “tedious person or situation” or “to be wearisome.” It's from this verbal bore that we get the past participle bored.

Well there you go, you learn something new everyday, they say that the german comedy is not very funny, so here you go.

But back to today, its been one of those days that you might not want to put in the diary, one you can instantly forget about, one that nothing has happened that does not everyday, a tedious situation as it explains.

Bored now are you not, see what I mean, so although monday the 9th january is not quite over I will bid you farewell and hope next time we meet you are more interesting.

see you all soon, updates if anything happens will appear here.............. oh now I feel ashamed to have forgotten that on this day in 1994 my father died, time creeps up on you somehow making you forget really sad days. So I will say again farewell monday the 9th January see you next year

Digital

Bloody hell its hard life sometimes is it not?

Trying to sell digital downloads, been on etsy, ebay, payhip, had some sales but not as many as i thought, in this digital world I was thinking that selling downloads would be simple, unless the files I am selling are complete rubbish of course which many have told me they are not, cannot see what else I can do to get sales, some feed back would be great.  Christophercreate is the name of the shops.

On a lighter note but none the less important, my wife Joanne has got slightly better I think, two patches on and they seem to be working, nothing to do with smoking as she has never ever done that, patches are for other health issues, hope it continues, what she has there is no cure, but medication will calm it down.

Another start of the week tomorrow, hope its a good one for you all

see you soon from the daily grind

To ITVx or not

What do we all think about the new ITVx streaming channel, have used it a few times and it seems fine, new content, but how do you feel it.

I know its not netflix but for free of course its not bad.

Giving all the streamers a good run for the money, I like it

Let me know what you think

To masked sing or not to masked sing

Anyone watching the masked singer, this one is not for me, I do not mind the singing in fact some of the voices are brilliant, but its the compare cannot stand the way silly jokes and trying to be funny, it just not work for me, anyone else feel this way.

I almost dont mond the judges, but sometimes they can be annoying when they shout of.

More from the daily grind

Still here folks, the footy I was watching turned out to be a win for Spurs, my team is Man UNited, but my wifes is Spurs so shes a happy bunny.

Getting dark now, hate the days with dark early days, why dont they leave the time and clocks alone instead of moving them, this hour change goes back to the second world war, it was done I think because of the war effort, scotland was the reason, it was to keep the summer days lighter morning and night time, leave them at the summer time thats what I say.

The weather at the daily grind is ok but not brilliant, here we are 4.20 pm and its getting darker, thanks scotland.

See you allsoon from the daily grind

Welcome from the daily grind

Hi and welcome back to the daily grind.  What do we all think about the royal family saga, little fed up with it, only getting one side of the story, wonder what really happened.

This day is proving to be another good one, painted the new stair rails to match the stairs, which were installed for health reasons, getting old you see.

Busy day though so far, keeping an eye on my digital shop, and watching the footy on TV.

What has the daily grind done for you today, cannot be worse than me.  Still receiving cards and post dated from well before christmas, the royal mail has really mucked the system up.

As regards to post if you have any stamps left, use them before the 31st jan else they will not be any good, as new ones are coming in and they have a Bar code on them.

Might have another post later if the day gets any better or worse,

regards from the daily grind

My day Jan 6th

today was a good day, really good, got the ok as regards to my repair on my car that my neighbour hit, after nearly 8 weeks its almost ready, hooray, hate the curtesy car rubbish to drive, at least it has 4 wheels someone said, yes but the wheels do not go fast.

joanne went to the hairdressers, i went to b & q, you guessed it they did not have what i wanted, in the end amazon came to the rescue and at a much better price, delivery tomorrow, you cannot fault amazon can you, or perhaps you can.

Reported a water leak in the road today, they say theres a water shortage sometimes this has been leaking for 2 days, imagine how much water has been wasted.

Received three christmas cards today, the post workers have been on strike at various times so deliveries are all in a mess.

I was watching my team Man U beating everton, but everton has just scored so it 2 all now darn it, all hang on its offside so back to 2 1 united, lovely VAR, got that one right.

Getting some visits at my payhip shop christophercreate, got the same on on etsy as well, selling digital downloads, hopefully it will take off, beautiful images and files for sale from 50 pence, quality files.

So nearly time for bed, not really tired though, but will go up soon, so I will say goodnight stay safe

Is retirement good or bad

Retirement is not what its claimed to be, yes I can get up when I want too, yes I can go to places if I want too, and a number of other things, but sometimes the boredom is beyond belief, one day blends into another day, and I thought I would never get to the stage where you, just for a moment, forget what day it is, started to use a calender so much to remember the appointments I may have, I use to keep all this in my head without any trouble.

The only good thing I can sau about it is, well there you go cannot say anything good about it.

Retirement is not good.

Day to Day events

Spring time

The sun awakes in a sleepy stretch,  Yawning warmth on a winter's wretch.  Birdsong flutters on the breeze,  Waking trees from slumber...
